“Great sessions exploring different techniques in art and introducing me to new artists. Being on Zoom has been no barrier to fun and the group (and especially Liz) are supportive and encouraging. A great way to spend Wednesday afternoons, long may it continue!” Cathryn

June / July Exploring Art programme with Traenerhus.

Wed 2nd  Birds eye view – Colour overlay drawing – using collage, maps and arial photography.

Liz will guide you through a process, while looking at maps and arial photographs, use collage, and drawing in colour, create a Julie Mehteru style piece of abstract work.

Wed 9th Contour portrait – simple colour and tone – painting from an image.

Learn how to breakdown the tonal values in the face to a simple selection, then identify the contour areas to paint. Work from your own photograph, or one of a friend or relative.

Wed 16th Paper mosaics – create a collage inspired by Gaudi

We will look at the wonderful images of Guell Park in Barcelona and create a collage, paper mosaic inspired by Gaudi’s work.

Wed 23rd Tessellations – shapes, pattern and colour

Create a painting using drawings of everyday objects around the home and learn about mixing subtle colour hues.

Wed 30th Nature drawing – underground overground…

Using source materials from your own neighbourhood, practice different drawing techniques to create some (almost) botanical style drawings.

Wed 7th William Morris – scraper art, wax reveal

Be inspired by William Morris wallpaper designs and using wax crayons or oil pastels create your own scraper board art.

Wed 14th True Perspective – a new way of looking.

You thought you knew about 1, 2 and 3 point perspective, here is another way of seeing – true perspective. Not looking through a lense, but our eyes, we draw not’s just what is in front of us but also our peripheral vision. Capture home interiors and panoramic landscapes.

Wed 21stTopsy turvy – Photo collage image manipulation

Using magazine or art book photographs, follow a fairly ordered way of cutting them up and sticking them down again. Manipulating the images to get surprising results.
