Description

Silk Flora Scarves (Zoo Café)

Introduction to Printing with plant materials.

This class is an introduction to printing with plant materials onto fabric using a method known as Bundle Dying or Eco printing, a contemporary process developed by Australian Artist India Flint.     You will be shown how to use fresh flowers, leaves and other plant materials to create a bespoke design which will be set using a steam bath. Printing results are unpredictable which adds to the fun and excitement when your dye bundle is unwrapped, and the beautiful results revealed.

The class will cover the following:

  • Examples of prints and colour produced by fruit, vegetables, leaves and flowers.
  • Information on preparing fabric, ensuring longer lasting colour
  • How to achieve the best results from your plant material
  • Alternative dying methods
  • Practice printing.
  • Create your very own original printed Silk accessory

All materials will be provided, and your fabric prepped ready for printing. There will be a selection of plant materials to play with but feel free to bring your own to see what happens when combined with creative curiosity and steam.

Health and Safety measures will be taken in relation to social distancing and Fire Safety.
