To celebrate one year of opening Traenerhus is holding our first Annual Open Exhibition called ‘Breaking Chains’ in recognition of our location on Hull’s High Street opposite the Wise Institute for the study of slavery and emancipation.
We have told artists that we want to see work that encapsulates that moment of a chain or shackle (physical or otherwise) being broken. and have asked them to submit work that to them represents a moment when they felt or recognised in someone or something else a sense of Freedom being realised…no mean feat!
9 local artists have had work accepted and the collection includes pottery, fine art, photography, and lino printing. It is a truly thought provoking, beautiful and eclectic collection worth a view.
